Sounds like you never shifted into OD. TC locks up around 45-ish mph IIRC. Feels like a 5 speed as the shifts are 1 - 2 - 3 - TC lockup - 4(OD). I may get a chance to get back on the expressway this Saturday so I can try it then. I remember the shift after 45.
The last Coyote video I posted got some hate. So here are 3 of them in one video. 1000+ on the stock engine on one of them. These cars are truly...The shift point is 5 to 7 MPH. I understand that the spring is incorrect and need a heavier one. I haven't taken a pressure reading yet. To have the 1-2 shift at 15-20 what pressure would be correct? Or what would be the correct dimension of the spring to use? Would going by a color on the spring help in selecting the proper shift point?

On my stage 2 2004r, built by Transmission Depot out of Hudson, FL, I shift through all 4 gears by about 40 mph. I'm using the Bowtie Overdrive (BTO) TV Made EZ linkage system and I have solid pressure at idle and off idle, abiout 82psi at idle with no TV cable attached. Since I did my trans swap myself, on my back, to the point of fabricating the exhaust pipes and adapting a Camaro shifter into the Avanti console, I can certainly appreciate the possibility of a 700 R4 behind the V6.
But, another safe way to get a reading that will be within 100 to 200 rpm, is to have a manually-shifted automatic transmission, or a way to hold it in high gear (1:1 ratio). With your car rolling at 10 to 15 mph, mash the throttle pedal to the floor, look at the tachometer, and then lift your foot from the throttle. The shift points will not change if you change tires. If the truck shifts at 6000 rpm and that is an indicated 60 mph after you put on 5% larger tires it will change at 6000 rpm an indicated 60 mph.

Shift light shows up near 70mph... Since this is a 4l60e, the OD ratio will be 0.70:1, just like the other 700r4,4l60, 4l60e, 4l65e,4l70e's. 4l80e= 0.75:1 The only GM 4 speed auto to run a 0.67:1 OD is the 200R4 trans. IMO The 200r4 has teh best ratios for acceleration AND low cruise rpm.

For instance, if you have a car that has a 2,500 RPM stall converter, and then you hold both gas and brake at the same time, like you were going to power brake, then general RPM that the tires will break loose at is going to be 2,500 RPM.

I'm trying to get my 200-4R to shift when I want it to. I'm mainly concerned with part throttle shifts, although WOT shifting is a concern as well. I have 2 spare governors to work with. One has a small little weight, and the other is the large little weight model. The small weight gov shifts too late 2-3 at part throttle, but is otherwise perfect. This gear ratio and tire diameter chart is meant to give you an approximation of ideal RPMs at highway speed (65 mph) for three situations: fuel economy, every day driving and increased towing power. Place the selector in the '3' position and cruise at 45 mph. Floor the throttle, you will have no 3-2 kickdown. Turn the adjuster screw in exactly one turn at a time until you have kickdown at 45 mph. Then, turn the screw in 3 more turns. You will be in the middle of the TV adjustment.
My 2004R seems to shift from 3rd to 4rth way too soon around 35 to 40 mph under a light load. For transmissions like the 200-4r and TH700-R4, heavier stock weights tend to create earlier upshifts, say like 4,700 rpm, while the lighter weights push the shift point to a higher rpm like 6000 rpm. Stiffer governor springs tend to bring the shift points closer together; lighter springs move them farther apart.

They got 8.2 seconds with a BMW 528i around the same time. yeah i need my line pressure so looks like i shift around 5300 or so which feels great its a freakin banchee i can feel the 500 ponies omg... O_O but at light throttle it shifts to second gear too late like around 14mph when it should be shifting around 10 or so and doesnt hit 4th till 61 mph so not sure what I'm gonna do there but the acceleration is much better with these shift points
The 200R4 was fine in that time frame. The 200R4 is the closest you will get to a bolt in replacement transmission for the PowerGlide. Some people don't like Q-jets, but the 700R4 and Q-jet is how I get 20 mpg at 75 most of the time. I haven't run this motor much, but on a recent trip from my town to Moab, UT. The stock 200-4r you have is a touch lazy and might have some frustrating shift points. If you don't build it up at least some, it will have a shortened life behind the bigger 403. The guts of the tranny will hold, but the extra power will eat the clutches if you don't improve its shift performance. So I posted on here months ago about my Transmission acting weird. In 1-2 selection it would stay in first and not shift to 2nd.
